Question of the Week

Gospel Reading:             John 10:11—18

Sheep are prone to wander. On their own they don’t go to the places that provide good nutrition and healthful living; they can get themselves into danger that they don’t know how to get out of. They need a shepherd to lead them out to pasture and to lead them back home. A shepherd who is only looking for a paycheck may do what is necessary in ordinary times; but when danger comes, or when extra attention, creative solutions, or self-giving is required, the hired man just doesn’t have the motivation to do extra. We are sheep, needing a leader who cares, and Jesus is that leader, and more than a leader: he is willing to sacrifice himself for our good.

Question:  What problems, needs, concerns, or dangers do I put into the hands of Jesus, my good Shepherd?
