This year’s celebration is Saturday May 18 at the 5pm mass for Pentecost! ❤️🙏🌈🕊️
With Open Hearts
and the help of God
We will walk together
In the ways of Jesus,
Creating a community of Belonging
where the stranger is welcomed
to become a friend,
Where all people are
Celebrated as precious children of God,
Where we joyfully share
With one another…
Friendship in Christ,
Hope for the living,
Comfort for the sorrowing,
Dignity for those in struggle,
And Freedom to ask and
To Seek and to Grow more fully
Into the persons We were created to be.
Together we are striving
to follow God’s way of love
with humility and hospitality
to ensure that every person
experiences the most fundamental truth
of God’s love for them
and their belonging
in the body of Christ.

Friends, today’s Gospel (John 10:1–10) again presents the image of Jesus as the shepherd who guides his sheep.
How wonderful and strange that Christianity is not a set of ideas. It’s not a philosophy or an ideology. It’s a relationship with someone who has a voice. The first disciples were privileged to hear the voice of the historical Jesus. They heard its very particular tone and texture.
But we hear his voice, too, in our own way, especially when we hear the Scriptures proclaimed at Mass. Mind you, we don’t just read the Bible; we hear the Bible. We can also hear the voice of Jesus through the teachings of the pope…. [and] in our conscience, which John Henry Newman called “the aboriginal Vicar of Christ in the soul.” We can hear the voice of Jesus in good spiritual friends as well, in those people who comfort us and challenge us and keep calling us to higher ideals and encourage us when we fall.
We listen to the voice of Jesus because he is leading us to a renewed and transformed life with God.

Father of all,
Creator and ruler of the universe,
You entrusted your world to us as a gift.
Help us to care for it and all people,
that we may live in right relationship—
with You,
with ourselves,
with one another,
and with creation.
Christ our Lord,
both divine and human,
You lived among us and died for our sins.
Help us to imitate your love for the human family
by recognizing that we are all connected—
to our brothers and sisters around the world,
to those in poverty impacted by environmental devastation,
and to future generations.
Holy Spirit,
giver of wisdom and love,
You breathe life in us and guide us.
Help us to live according to your vision,
stirring to action the hearts of all—
individuals and families,
communities of faith,
and civil and political leaders.
Triune God, help us to hear the cry of those in poverty, and the cry of the earth, so that we may together care for our common home.
Amen.

Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us, by letting us be called God’s children; and that is what we are.

“If Christians, instead of radiating the contagious joy of the Gospel, keep speaking in an outworn intellectualistic and moralistic religious language, people will not be able to see the Good Shepherd. They will not recognize the one who loves each of his sheep, calls them by name, and bears them on his shoulders.
Jesus does not ask us to make arguments for God, but to show him, in the same way the saints did, not by words but by our lives.”
