Second Sunday of Advent
Jesus, you came among us with the irresistible power of a baby, requiring both our hands and captivating our whole hearts. Help us to cast aside the fear and brokenness clings to us,
so we might hold you with tenderest care in holding one another.

I ENCOURAGE YOU
TO DEDICATE TIME TO PRAYER, MEDITATING IN THE LIGHT
OF THE WORD OF GOD,
SO THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT
WHO INHABITS IT
THE PATH TO FOLLOW
AND TRANSFORM OUR HEARTS,
AS WE AWAIT THE BIRTH
OF OUR LORD JESUS.
- Pope Francis

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT Sunday, Dec 04, 2022
Peace to all who enter here
The holiday season can be full of exciting plans and activities. It can also be stressful, as social demands increase. Shopping and seasonal food preparation take time—a thing always in limited supply. And as families and communities gather, opportunities for harmony or conflict arise. Francis de Sales offers advice for the harried: "Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Commit to Isaiah's peaceable kingdom, where calf and lion share the field and childhood innocence leads the way.
TODAY'S READINGS: Isaiah 11:1-10; Romans 15:4-9; Matthew 3:1-12. “The calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a little child to guide them.”

Brothers and sisters:
Whatever was written previously was written for our instruction,
that by endurance and by the encouragement of the Scriptures
we might have hope.
May the God of endurance and encouragement
grant you to think in harmony with one another,
in keeping with Christ Jesus,
that with one accord you may with one voice
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you,
for the glory of God.

Scripture Reflection: "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." Luke 2:4-7
