It’s very fitting that we end this month of Mary on the Feast of the Visitation, as it is a beautiful summary of her role in salvation history — to bring Jesus into the world, into the lives of others.
In the early Church, they called Mary the “God-bearer,” because she carried Christ into the world, beginning with her visitation to St. Elizabeth. Mary brings us Jesus, even now, in our own lives.
May we live like Mary — with Jesus in our hearts and to share Jesus with everyone we meet and in everything we do. And may we live with the joy of St. John the Baptist! May we leap for the joy of knowing we have been saved by Jesus, that we are living in his presence.

Here is a meeting made of hidden joys
Of lightenings cloistered in a narrow place
From quiet hearts the sudden flame of praise
And in the womb the quickening kick of grace.
Two women on the very edge of things
Unnoticed and unknown to men of power
But in their flesh the hidden Spirit sings
And in their lives the buds of blessing flower.
And Mary stands with all we call ‘too young’,
Elizabeth with all called ‘past their prime’
They sing today for all the great unsung
Women who turned eternity to time
Favoured of heaven, outcast on the earth
Prophets who bring the best in us to birth.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you;
blessed are you among women.
See Luke 1:28
📸Today, on the Feast of the Visitation, the Gospel follows the Annunciation to Mary by the Angel Gabriel, which concludes with Mary’s Yes, “and with that, the angel left her”. The very next line says “Mary set out in haste to the Hill Country of Judah” to her cousin Elizabeth. This mosaic is above the doors to the Church of the Visitation, built at the top of the Hill where Elizabeth and Mary greet, portrays that journey.

Friends, today’s Gospel (Luke 1:39–56) tells of Mary’s visit to Elizabeth. I’ve always been fascinated by Mary’s “haste” in this story of the Visitation. Upon hearing the message of Gabriel concerning her own pregnancy and that of her cousin, Mary “traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah” to see Elizabeth.
Why did she go with such speed and purpose? Because she had found her mission, her role in the theo-drama. We are dominated today by the ego-drama in all of its ramifications and implications. The ego-drama is the play that I’m writing, I’m producing, I’m directing, and I’m starring in. We see this absolutely everywhere in our culture. Freedom of choice reigns supreme: I become the person that I choose to be.
The theo-drama is the great story being told by God, the great play being directed by God. What makes life thrilling is to discover your role in it. This is precisely what has happened to Mary. She has found her role—indeed a climactic role—in the theo-drama, and she wants to conspire with Elizabeth, who has also discovered her role in the same drama. Like Mary, we have to find our place in God’s story.

This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
How shall I make a return to the LORD
for all the good he has done for me?
I will take the cup of salvation,
and call on the name of the Lord…

I liked it when someone brought Mexican food to coffee and donuts. With the food handler cards can some more substantial feast food like burritos from Clayton’s be incorporated? I am on the annoying bus to utc mall to buy a laptop cord replacing the stolen one from Steve’s and will be dashing to the restroom after this commute so if one wants me to negotiate a group rate of burritos for a feast I can be reached via text 561 525-3518
Specifically one year someone brought churros to coffee and donuts post Sunday mass. I don’t want too much sugar as it can cause diabetes. Can they have kosher grape juice for communion wine substitute for those who request it just like a lady requests a gluten free communion so peole working have no alcohol on their breath from communion?
