These are the real questions… ❤️
    •
“Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love?' These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will be many fruits, here in this world and the life to come.” - Henri Nouwen

    Embrace the mystery of communion

Brother Roger Schütz, founder of the Taizé movement, died on this date in 2005. Brother Roger began Taizé in 1940 in the French countryside, envisioning a humble monastic community to respond to the needs of war-torn refugees—but also to welcome followers from all Christian denominations. The simple house he purchased eventually blossomed into a global place of pilgrimage, especially for young people. Taizé is especially known for beautiful chants still used in congregations all over the world. “The Church is a mystery of communion,” Brother Roger wrote, where we “can discover an aurora of reconciliation and the practicing of a simple joy.” Pray with Taizé through their website www.taize.fr/en

TODAY'S READINGS: Ezekiel 28:1-10; Matthew 19:23-30. “For God all things are possible.”

If you have not done so already, please register to receive the survey (Anonymous link will be sent September 6 via flocknote email and remain active thru the month).
    Simply text SACREDHEARTCOR to 84576.

This survey is for everyone! If you participated in the parish gathering you can still do the survey. If you couldn’t gather then, here’s your chance for input.
This weekend we will share a handout with a QR code that will link directly to the 9/6 survey so you can pass it on to others you know whose voice and experience needs to be heard. Let’s cast a wide net to reach not only those who are active in the parish but those who find themselves at dis-ease in the church or may have stopped attending mass. We want to hear from those who have left, those who have stayed and those who come and go. Every voice matters. Pope Francis has asked to hear from the whole people of God as we discern the call of the Spirit in the life of the Church.

    Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste
    to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
    and greeted Elizabeth.
    When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
    “Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
    Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
    would be fulfilled.”

    And Mary said:
    “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me
    and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
    in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.”

Mary remained with her about three months
and then returned to her home.

Brothers and sisters: Since we are surrounded by s Brothers and sisters:
Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us
and persevere in running the race that lies before us
while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus,
the leader and perfecter of faith.
For the sake of the joy that lay before him
he endured the cross, despising its shame,
and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God.

The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Vir The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Monday, August 15th

“And still we live as if we have forgotten
But someone keeps all these things in her heart.
Who bore for us the only one begotten,
The Son of God. And now she takes our part
And calls us to remember all his mercy
Calls us with all our skill, and all our art
To magnify his name, for it is holy
For now she dwells with him, in joy and gladness,
The Mystic Rose of heaven, once so lowly
Whose heart was also pierced, who feels our sadness
And shows us how to pray. Each generation
Has known her help and presence, heard her witness
The great things done through her. In every nation
She nurtures those who bear Christ to the world,
Through her our saviour came, Love’s revelation.” - M. Guite

Masses will be at 8AM and 5PM Monday 8/15

Today is the Feast Day of Blessed Michael J. McGiv Today is the Feast Day of Blessed Michael J. McGiveny. Born to Irish immigrant parents in Waterbury, Connecticut, Fr. McGiveny founded the Knights of Columbus in New Haven in 1882. The Knights developed into the largest Catholic fraternal charitable organization, serving people across the globe.
Blessed Michael McGivney, American priest and founder of the Knights of Columbus, pray for us!
We are so grateful for the Knights that have served our parish and community since it’s earliest days, in so many ways, always with generosity and joy. (Time for a new group photo)
