Refugees at the shelter run by Catholic Charities are still in great need of used and new clothing, especially for women and children of all sizes. Up to 200 new refugees arrive daily. Please be generous and leave your donations in the rear of the church. Monetary donations are welcome, and will be used to buy underwear and sandals.
We are in need of several volunteers to help take our donations to Catholic Charities each week. Please contact Deacon Kevin at kevin.m.murray@gmail.com or 619-246-7387 to volunteer.

High School & Middle School: Join us for Spread the Love Community Service this FRIDAY!!! We will meet at Sacred Heart in the Parish Center at 10am to write positive notes for our community members. At around 11:30, we will start heading towards Central Beach and deliver the notes to the houses we pass. By 1pm, we will be at the beach where we will have a picnic lunch, eat some snacks, and play beach games. We will wrap up by 3pm. Please note that snacks are provided, but lunch is not, and don't forget your beach gear!

Let God Love You the Way God Wants
I know that true joy comes from letting God love me the way God wants, whether it is through illness or health, failure or success, poverty or wealth, rejection or praise. It is hard for me to say, “I shall gratefully accept everything, Lord, that pleases you. Let your will be done.” But I know that when I truly believe my Father is pure love, it will become increasingly possible to say these words from the heart.
Charles de Foucauld once wrote a prayer of abandonment that expresses beautifully the spiritual attitude I wish I had.
Father, I abandon myself into your hands,
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you;
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands I commend my soul;
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into your hands without reserve,
and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
It seems good to pray this prayer often. These are words of a holy man, and they show the way I must go. I realize that I can never make this prayer come true by my own efforts. But the Spirit of Jesus given to me can help me pray it and grow to its fulfillment. I know that my inner peace depends on my willingness to make this prayer my own.

We’re in the same boat
The “Barque (boat) of Saint Peter” is one of the oldest symbols of the Catholic Church. Early church fathers, like Tertullian and Clement of Alexandria, compared the church to a sailing vessel. Saint Boniface wrote: “The church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life’s different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship, but to keep her on her course.” As Peter learned, the trick is to place our trust in Jesus. Pray for Pope Francis—successor to Peter—as he guides the church through today’s troubled waters.
