Today begins Teacher Appreciation Week! We are thankful for our wonderful teachers at @shpscoronado ❤️🤩💒🫶📚🙏Teachers are truly special in our society and lives. Below find a prayer for teachers as they enter the last weeks of school. Tag a teacher in your life to tell them you are praying for them!
God of Love, Thank you for every teacher who notices a child’s special gift. Thank you for teachers who are listeners and gentle guides. Thank you for teachers who expect much and love enough to demand more.
Thank you for the special teacher each one of us remembers.
God of Mercy, Sustain teachers who give everything they have. Strengthen teachers who assume the blame for so many problems beyond their control. Help exhausted teachers rest.
God of Strength, Encourage teacher to care and inspire them to nourish. Motivate teachers to keep on learning for the fun of it and to make learning enjoyable for children.
We wonder at teachers who know how to quiet a class of five year olds or help fourth graders be empathetic.
We admire teachers who enjoy middle school writers, or teach physics or math or history. Bless the people who are expected to accomplish these miracles and who know how to comfort children when miracles don’t happen.
God of Justice, help and support teachers in their special calling, wherever they teach and whatever obstacles they must face. We pray these things in the name of our great teacher, Jesus Christ.
Amen

We need to remember this simple lesson. The Catholic faith is not an ideology. It’s a romance. It’s a love affair with God. We’re a people who believe in Jesus Christ – not the ideas, but the person of Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary, crucified and risen for our sake purely out of his love for us. And living the Catholic faith should be an experience of gratitude and joy that flows from a daily personal encounter with God’s son and a communal relationship with God’s people.
~ Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.

We all have mirror neurons.
We are looking at those around us and learning.
But for children, especially, they are looking to others to learn how to be human, how to make a gift of themselves, how to live freely as Christ has made them to live.

FEAST OF PHILIP AND JAMES, APOSTLES
Don’t think less of others
Poor James the Lesser. The other apostle named James—the Greater—got the better nickname. We don’t even know anything about James the Lesser, other than his name and that Jesus picked him to be one of the 12—but that alone speaks volumes about this James. We’ve all experienced what it feels like to have labels attached to us that make us feel less in the eyes of others, if we even feel seen or known at all. But God looks past those labels to the truth of our identity. That’s where you’ll find your value and dignity, even if others don’t seem to. Remember that, like James, you are God’s chosen.
