Lord Jesus, today we surrender ourselves to Your care and seek Your protection from the fires in our county of San Diego. Have mercy on us all, and may we feel Your boundless love during these challenging times. We lift up all those who have been affected so far, and especially the brave first responders who are putting their lives on the line to fight these fires. Watch over them and bring them home safely to their families.
We ask all this in Your Holy Name, Amen.

Join us a Creation Care Introductory Workshop, Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at 5:30PM for pizza (optional) and 6PM for workshop start time. We will conclude at 7:30PM.
The workshop will be held at the diocesan Pastoral Center, located at 3888 Paducah Drive, San Diego, 92117. We will be in the Salon de Porres.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to view the Vatican’s film, The Letter, which offers an overview of today’s environmental crisis and it’s impact upon the poor and vulnerable, you can access the film for free in advance of the workshop here. This is just optional, but provides an excellent picture of these dynamics!
The workshop consists of an overview of Creation Care, exploring the science of today’s environmental crisis through a lens of faith, and concludes with a brief primer on taking action via the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
Contact Christina Slentz at cslentz@sdcatholic.org with questions!

Even in the face of execution, Agnes sought God’s will, asking, “God, what do you think I should do?” She held steadfast to her faith, and as a result, was killed for it. View today’s full reflection now:

Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day!
“We must discover the power of love, the power, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that we will be able to make of this old world a new world. We will be able to make men better. Love is the only way.”

What is jubilee?
The Jubilee has always been an event of great spiritual, ecclesiastical and social importance in the life of the Church. Since Boniface VIII established the first Holy Year in 1300 — with a cadence of one hundred years, which later became according to the Biblical model, fifty years and further set at twenty-five.
