Votive Candles

Sometimes Catholics light a votive candle in front of a statue or shrine as a reminder that their prayers continue even after they have left the church. In our church, you will find two (2) candle stands, one located near the back where the statue of St. Anthony is and another electronic candle stand in the Mary Chapel near 7th St.

The candles near the statue of St. Anthony burn for five days and the offering is $3, they may be picked up in the Ministry Center on weekdays and from the Sacristan at Mass on weekends.

The candles in the Mary Chapel burn for three days and the offering is $1.  It only accepts $1 bills.

Lord, May this candle be a light for you to enlighten me in my difficulties.
May it be a fire for you to burn out of me all pride, selfishness and impurity.
May it be a flame for you to bring warmth into my heart, towards my family, my neighbors and all those who meet me.
Through the prayers of Mary Virgin and Mother,
I place in your care those I came to pray for, especially_____.
I cannot stay long with you in this church.
In leaving this candle, I wish to give to you something of myself.
Help me to continue my prayer into everything I do this day.
Amen.
