“Be a good scout”. It’s a bit of an old school expression now, but to be a good scout means that you are a person who is friendly, kind, helpful, reliable and trustworthy. We are Building to SERVE our boys and girls, our young men and women and people of all ages; building character and christian integrity, affirming human goodness and God’s grace. May we all be “good scouts” - people of hospitality, gentleness, service, generosity, and faithfulness.

We are asking every parishioner to contribute what you can to our Capital Campaign, honoring those who did the same for us and paying it forward, as a blessing for ourselves and future generations. #continuingthegoodworkthelordhasbegun #beagooodscout #thankyoutroop801 ... See MoreSee Less

MEMORIAL OF JOHN OF THE CROSS, PRIEST, DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH
The change we need
Here’s a simple truth: People resist change. The greater the change, the greater the resistance, generally speaking—even when the change is long overdue and much for the better. John of the Cross embraced the Carmelite reform initiated by his spiritual sister, the visionary Carmelite Saint Teresa of Avila. However, a group of his fellow Carmelites strongly opposed the reform and went so far as to imprison John and treat him harshly. He persevered, and even wrote most of his famous Spiritual Canticle while jailed. Try to see unfair treatment or setbacks that come your way as an opportunity for spiritual growth.
Matthew 17:9a, 10-13 “I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased.” #takefiveforfaith

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
“Go and tell John what you hear and see:
the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk,
lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear,
the dead are raised,
and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.
And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me." Matthew 11 ... See MoreSee Less

The second half of our capital campaign drive started under Mary’s mantle, on the Feast of the Birth of Mary, a day which inspires each of us to contemplate Gods call through our own life, and how our life, too, is meant to gift the world with Jesus.
Our Marian campaign concludes today on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. Tomorrow our school will celebrate Mass and enjoy a fiesta in her honor. It is the advent of the Lord!
Thank you, each of you who contributed through your prayers and generous donations. We are grateful for your support and for our anonymous parishioner who matched your donations. Blessings doubled!!!Through your devotion and sacrificial giving we keep moving forward toward our goal! May we, under Mary’s mantle, be pliable to God’s purpose in our own lives and leave behind a lasting legacy that speaks to every generation of God’s care for all. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
