“Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
who sent his angel to deliver the servants who trusted in him”
Daniel 3:95
#dailyingodsword
Here’s a bit of fun prompted by the days first reading.
If you are a child of the late 60’s-‘70’s you may well remember this popular song. And if you do, it’s probably stuck in your head now.

Jesus is a soul man,
Jesus is a soul man,
Jesus is a soul man,
And I'm sure sold on Him.

Oh they say that he's a square,
That Jesus, He ain't nowhere.
I know better, He lives in my heart.
Jesus is a soul man.

You can find Him in the Bible pages.
Jesus - he's the rock of ages.
Hides me in the cleft of the rock.
Jesus is a soul man.

He calms the waves when the storm is ragin'.
Keeps me safe when the devils ravin'.
He's my staff, he's my sword and my shield.
Jesus is a soul man.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
The king, he said, In the fire you must go.
He found out that the fire wouldn't burn em.
They were saved by the soul man.

*Read Daniel 3, and the wondrous litany of praise amidst the fire that Abednigo sang.
bible.usccb.org/bible/daniel/3

And sing along to the soul man.

2nd Annual Sacred Heart Religion Bee Winners
SHPS students had the 40 days in Lent to study their Religion Bee study guide. Last week teachers held classroom Religion Bee's to select the top 5 students (grades 2-5) and 3 students (middle school) from each class to represent their grade in the official Religion Bee.

A Religion Bee is similar to a Spelling Bee. Students are asked questions from their study guide individually, on stage at the microphone.
Congratulations to our winners and great work all, growing in your knowledge of our Catholic faith and having fun while doing so! ❤️🙏🏆✝️

May we begin every day— open and unafraid… ❤️
•
“Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let’s not be afraid to receive each day’s surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy. It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity.” - Henri Nouwen

Happy birthday to Saint John Neumann today—nicknamed the “little bishop” not only for his stature but for the humility that came from his Redemptorist vow of poverty, which he honored even after becoming bishop of Philadelphia. Neumann’s simplicity invites rich reflection for Lent. “Our great mistake is that we allow ourselves to be deceived by the spirit of worldly shrewdness, the desire for fame, and the love of comfort,” he wrote to a fellow priest. “The principles of faith fade out of our hearts in proportion as we allow the principles of the world to come in.” Simplify your life to make more room for what feeds your faith.

TODAY'S READINGS: Numbers 21:4-9; John 8:21-30. "You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world."

Today’s Gospel recalls the story of Jesus raisin Today’s Gospel recalls the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Jesus is Resurrection and life and we will see God’s glory when we have faith in him.

Perhaps, this week, I might feel called to renew my belief in the one who is Resurrection and fullness of life, and to ponder anew the gifts of life, freedom and joy which the Lord freely offers. What might life in his Spirit look like in the coming week?
