Perhaps I’m remembering times in my own life when I’ve betrayed Jesus, making choices that took me away from his presence? Or maybe I’ve felt betrayed by someone else, and still struggle to find it in my heart to forgive them. Perhaps I’m struggling to forgive myself? Without judgement, I acknowledge these times, and ponder how wonderful it is that the Lord loves and accepts me exactly as I am.

We are so used to thinking about Jesus dying on a cross that we often miss the shock of it. Jesus’ Kingdom project failed abjectly. It could not have gone worse. The disciples were not pretending to be sad, they were devastated. Can I get near to them and their experience during Holy Week?
