Question of the Week
Gospel Reading: Luke 21:25—28, 34—36
Jesus describes the upheaval that accompanies the transformation of the old universe into a new one. Changes in life are often frightening, and this is a huge change that is coming. So Jesus tells us that it’s coming, and how to prepare for it. He particularly mentions two attitudes to stay away from: slothfulness (he warns about drunkenness and carousing), and anxiety. What do we do instead? Instead of Slothfulness: looking out for the people around us, for their needs. Instead of anxiety: trusting God to care for us. Both of these positive attitudes look outside ourselves: it’s a matter of asking, “How is God working in my life? What do people need?”
Question: How is God working in my life and in the lives of my family and friends? What needs do I recognize in the people around me?
