Question of the Week
Gospel Reading: Mark 7:31—37
The deaf and speech-impaired man was a Gentile, and Jesus healed him. Maybe he believed in the God of the Jews, or maybe he didn’t; he certainly believed in the healing power of Jesus. And once he was healed, many others also believed in Jesus’ power.
Question: Jesus is not physically present in our midst—do I believe in his power to heal me?

The Holy Innocents are the young male children from Bethlehem and its vicinity at the time of the birth of Jesus who were put to death by King Herod the Great. Herod ordered their death after the Magi who came from the East to pay homage to the child Jesus left without giving Herod news about “the newborn king of the Jews.” This feast has been celebrated in the West since the fifth century. The Holy Innocents are the patrons of children, babies, and foundlings.

I want to react with a ❤️not a 👍 thumbs up and am still learning this cel phone stuff. Yes Merry Christmas Eve to sacred ❤️community present in the building or praying in spirit in another city like me. The advent book from Saint Patrick’s Carlsbad read “god is in us” for today the 24th. He works through us. I just pray the community can continue even when a younger priest takes over one day for those retiring like msr lyng of La Jolla did to mission valley. Priests graham ledger told me in Del Mar retire humbly. May priests from ships 🚢 on base and nuns humbly who knows where know they are 🥰 loved even without a spouse. I wrote too much. Sorry it is lonely house sitting in Carlsbad but Jesus is always there. Take care Everton and god bless.
Now Let us Praise the Wonder of Our God, for on this Holy Night a Savior in Born to us, who is Christ the Lord.

So beautiful.
Good morning, friends. We are in the final week (days! hours!) of Advent. Of this season of waiting in the dark unknown of the “before,” even as we know the light is coming—and soon! We don’t jump straight to the dawn, but stay with the experience of anticipating, of feeling all the feelings and wondering all the wonderings when it all seems interminable.
In the Christmas story, Mary is about to give birth to the One who gave birth to the world itself. She has felt this Life growing within her, stretching her already in ways she never knew she could expand (and, oh mama, this is only the beginning!). Her love for this little one grows like a seed planted in her own belly. And Divine Love itself is growing in her.
The theme of the fourth week of Advent (rather short this year, with Christmas Eve on its Tuesday, and the Christmas season beginning the next!) is Love. Jesus as an expression of God’s love. Our own awareness of loving and being-loved, and all the ways we feel like we miss that mark. So as we head into this week, complete with whatever practices are part of your Christmas, pause for a moment to consider Love.
When have you experienced loving and/or being loved by God? Are there moments that come up immediately in your memory, where you just felt seen or delighted in or empowered to open just a little more deeply to the Love that sustains your life? If that feels a bit abstract, consider a time when you felt deeply loved by someone in your life. How might that be one tiny glimpse of how much God loves you?
As we welcome Emmanuel, how do you find yourself wanting to respond to this expression of Divine Love embodied in a person?

Our Open Hearts Christmas Mass was a joyful celebration of the Good News of God-with-us. Our hearts were filled with a spirited recitation of the Nativity narrative and festive gathering in the Parish Center. Many thanks to Maria Nagy for organizing this glad celebration and a blessed and Merry Christmas to our Exceptional Families.
