Question of the Week

Gospel Reading               Mark 1:14 – 20

The Israelites had been waiting for a great hero to come and save their nation. After John the Baptist had been arrested, Jesus went about announcing that he was himself the one they were waiting for. Then he drew together his team, beginning with a group of four fishermen. They may not have realized it, but this small beginning was fully in line with God’s usual ways. All along God used small, weak, or somehow innocuous people to do great things. Consider Abraham, Gideon, Ruth, David, or any of the so-called great men of Israel. It is only when people know they are powerless that they allow the power of God to do its work.

Question: When have I seen the power of God at work?
